‘Gone Girl” going
Prime
Video, Netflix and Disney Hotstar are OTT streaming giants in India. They have
a huge collection of movies and web series. This collection includes the content
in different languages across the globe apart from English and other Indian
languages.
I
recently read in internet that Prime Video is taking out some movies from its
OTT platform. Actually, this is what is done by these companies; they remove
some films or web series at one time. And after sometime they are again added and made
available to viewers as per their streaming policy.
One
of the movies going out from Prime Video is ‘Gone Girl’. This film was released
way back almost a decade ago in 2014. It is one of the finest films from the
genre of thriller, rather it could be considered as the psychological thriller.
Because the main characters viz. Amy Elliot Dunne (played by gorgeous actress Rosamund
Pike) and Nick Dunne (acted by very talented Ben Affleck) seem to be psychopaths
and sociopaths on several occasions during the movies. The film starts with
Nick realising that his beautiful wife has gone missing on one fine day. He
files the complaint with police and Detective Rhonda Boney (played by actress
Kim Dickens) starts investigating the case with her team.
Since
the beginning till end Gone Girl is full of twists and suspense taking new turns.
David Fincher (David Andrew Leo Fincher) has directed the film in his peculiar
style and has done full justice to his favourite genre i.e. psychological thriller.
David Flincher has directed other well known thrillers like Seven (Brad Pitt
and Morgan Freeman), The Game (Micheal Douglas and Sean Penn), Fight Club (Brad
Pitt and Edward Norton), The Panic Room (Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart),
Zodiac (Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr.) among others. Each
of these movies is a superb treat to the movie lovers, especially those who
love watching thrillers.
In
the beginning one simply gets convinced that Nick (Ben Affleck) might have
really murdered his wife. But, as the story moves on and film goes ahead, the
viewers get jerks and shocks. With every new scene one is compelled to think
what would happen next and what would be the ultimate truth at the end.
Ben
Affleck and Rosamund Pike have given
fabulous performance in the film. Ben Affleck is active in Hollywood since
1980s. He is also a screenplay writer. Some of his prominent films are – ‘Good
Will Hunting’, ‘Shakespeare in Love’, ‘Armageddon’, ‘Pearl Harbor’ snd ‘The Sum
of All Fears’. He has also appeared in some television series and music videos.
Ben Affleck certainly is one of the talented actors and multi flaired personalities
from Hollywood. He has won Academy as
well as Golden Globe and British Academy
of Film and Television Arts) BAFTA Awards for his fantastic work in
entertainment industry in different capacities.
Rosamund
Pike is an English actress. She was born in 1979 in Hammersmith in West London. She has acted
in films such as ‘Johnny English Reborn’, ‘Wrath of the Titans’, ‘Jack Reacher”,
The World’s End, etc. She was nominated for Academy Awards (Oscars) in the
category of Best Actress for her convincing acting in ‘Gone Girl’.
Judged
by any measure ‘Gone Girl’ is a fabulous film and keeps viewers sticked to
their seats. It is a film which celebrates the strong natured and firm women.
Worldwide most of the societies are patriarchal which portray women as weaker
sex compared to their male counterparts. But, ‘Gone Girl’ tells us that even
women can be equally stronger and at some times could go to any extremes to get
the things done as per their wish. This is one of the reasons that even though
Amy has grey shades to her character in ‘Gone Girl’ her performance and role
attracts more attention. And as a film viewer one starts liking it. We can say
that ‘Gone Girl’ gives a message to everyone that ‘Do not underestimate women’.
‘Gone Girl’ is going from Prime Video, hence one should watch it before it is removed by it.
