Salman
Khan
(A Stylish Actor Par Excellence)
Audience
likes two types of actors on-screen. One is who gets into the role, understands
it and makes it alive by great performance. Other type of actor is the one who
carries the film on his shoulders with the help of his style, larger than life
image and charisma. As far as Salman Khan is concerned he is the blend of both
of these. He plays the perfect character in the script and portrays it on
screen realistically. He also has his unique style and histrionics which he
displays in most of his movies. It includes the style of rubbing his nose, the
typical dance steps and intensity and emotions in his eyes. Most of his fans
crave for all these antics performed by him on screen. And who would forget the
famous display of his masculine well built physique.
At
present his age is running sixty and still he gives a tough time to much
younger actors as far as fitness is concerned. He could be seen even performing
the back- flip at this age. His first movie ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’ was released in
1988. In this movie he played a second role of Farukh Shaikh’s brother and
Rekha’s spoiled brother-in-law. In this debut role he displayed superb acting
skills. His very presence in the few early scenes after his entry annoys one a
lot. Same irritatuon gives way to love for him when he grows closer to his
sister-in-law i.e. Rekha in the scenes coming later on.
The
year 1989 proved to be a game changer for Salman Khan. In this year his most
iconic movie till this titled ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ was released. With ‘Maine Pyar
Kiya’ a Star was born and rest is the history.
One
of the most important aspects of the career of Salman Khan is that he has
played variety of roles on-screen. He started with as a romantic hero but
during later times he equally displayed a macho performance in action packed
movies. In films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, ‘Hum Saath Saath
Hain’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’ and many more he was
seen as a cute, innocent and romantic boy next door. In films like ‘Jab Pyar
Kisi Se Hota Hai’ and ‘Tere Naam’ he powerfully displayed an emotional side of
the character. Especially, the suffering, innocence, agony, annoyance and anger displayed in ‘Tere Naam’
has no parallels. Anybody who watches ‘Tere Naam’ is bound to cry. No,
everybody who watches ‘Tere Naam’ hundred percent cries. What does it indicate?
It proves the fact that Salman Khan has acted so deeply and got under the skin
of the character so much that audience gets not only connected with him but
merges with him emotionally. This is nothing but a sheer acting skill.
Salman
Khan must be credited with bringing back the Action genre with big bang
with films like ‘Wanted’ and ‘Dabanng’.
Later on he did actioned packed movies like ‘Kick’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ with equal tenacity. In films like
‘Sultan’ he was so much immersed in the character that one feels as if he is
not an actor but a true wrestler.
Comedy
is another genre where Salman has proved his talent greatly. Here one can
mention his comic roles from the films like ‘Saajan’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Hello
Brother’, ‘Ready’, etc. In film like ‘Saajan’ mostly revolves around Sanjay
Dutt. The theme of the movie deals with platonic and pure love between a poet
,Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit. Hence, Sanjay Dutt was bound to get more
attention of a poet like Sanjay Dutt but still Salman manages to steal the
show, thanks to his acting skills. One could never forget his freshness, expressions
during songs and of course the flawless comedy from ‘Saajan’. Hence, it should
be aptly said that ‘Saajan’ is a trajectory of success due to all three lead actors viz. Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and
Madhuri Dixit.
In
nutshell, whichever role Salman Khan has played till this date has looked very
real and convincing on screen. Be it emotional, comedy, action, innocent,
annoyance, anger, seriousness, tenacity, intensity, melodramatic, etc. Salman has always given a stellar performance.
But, most of the times he has said that he is not a great actor, which is not
true. It is his greatness that he does not call himself as a good actor and
instead gives credit to others. After all who is a good actor, a good actor is an actor who makes audience
feel the character on screen a real one and genuinely authentic. Measured by
this yardstick one has to accept that Salman Khan is a superb performer and
an actor par excellence.
In
his sixtieth year he is acting in one of the most awaited films of his career titled ‘Sikandar’. This movie is directed by ‘Ghajini’
fame talented Tamil Director A. R. Murugadoss.
According to reports ‘Sikandar’ is slated to be released in March 2025. We are
confident that as usual Salman Khan will definitely give an impeccable
performance in ‘Sikandar’ as well. Love you Salman Khan you are ‘Sabka
Bhaijaan’.
