Salman Khan- A Superstar with Golden Heart
Today’s topmost superstar
in Bollywood is Salman Khan. His critics also have to accept this fact as he
has given back to back sixteen films which have entered the most coveted Rs.100
crores club, rather they have crossed this magic amount in earnings. These
films are- Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Jai Ho, Prem
Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhai Jaan, Kick, Sultan, Tubelight, Tiger Zinda Hai, Race
3, Bharat, Dabangg 3, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The latest in the series being
‘Tiger 3,’ released on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and Laxmi Pujan in 2023.
In Indian box office it has done the business of more than Rs.200 crores and
world wide tally remains at envious figure of more than Rs. 300 crores as on 18th
November 2023.
Salman aka Sallu and also
called as ‘Bhai’ by the close ones began his film career in 1988 with the film
titled-‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’. The film had Farooq Shaikh and Rekha in the lead
roles and Salman played a sort of spoiled younger brother-in-law of Rekha who
later on becomes a good ‘devar’ and considers Rekha as his another mother. Even
in this not so important or central role he had shown his acting talent and a
spark of becoming one of the great actors of the industry. The very next year
i.e. 1989 a history was written with the release of ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. It was
the blockbuster of that year and for the first time Salman and Sooraj Barjatya
worked together. This tremendously talented duo went on to give some of the
most memorable films of Hindi cinema such as ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ and ‘Hum
Saath Saath Hai’. They again worked on another superb family drama titled ‘Prem
Ratan Dhan Payo’.
One of the salient
features of Salman’s films is they are complete family entertainers. One can
watch his films with parents, siblings and children as there is seldom
obscenity in his films. Due to it Salman is perhaps a rare reigning superstar
who has the fan following from all age groups. It is said that ‘Maine Pyar
Kiya’ and other films of his which were released between 1989 to 1994 were seen
together by the parents along-with their children who were in the age group of 12
to 18 then and now those parents have crossed the age of 60 and their children
have become middle aged parents and the children of these parents are watching
the films of Salman along-with their grand parents and parents. Hence, Sallu
has the fan following of three generations and all of them love him equally.
Sallu is the person who
believes in helping others. He has helped immensely many newcomers in the industry;
few of them are Katrina Kaif, Himesh Reshmiyah, Sajid-Wajid, Pulkit Samrat,
etc. He has also helped many workers who work on the sets of films by way of
organizing free surgery camps for them and their family members. For carrying
out his charity work he runs his NGO called Being Human. This NGO apart from
helping the needy people also promotes the cause of education among the needy
children. It is also promoting the cause of ICT enabled education in certain
parts of North India.
Salman and his family
firmly believes in secularism. His father is Muslim, mother Salma Khan is a
Hindu, stepmother Helen is a Christian, his sister Alvira Khan is married to
Atul Agnihotri, a Hindu, brother Arbaaz Khan is married to Maliaka Arora-Khan
who is half Hindu and half Christian,
youngest brother Sohail Khan is married to Seema Sachdev Khan who is Hindu.
Hence, we can say that this Khan family is the best example of national
integrity. He loves his family enormously and still stays along-with his family
at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. He has acted in the films either produced or
directed by Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Atul Agnihotri. He believes in helping
his friends from industry during their need. For instance, he made a film
tilted ‘Partner’ especially for Govinda when his career was in trouble.
Salman’s family
celebrates the Hindu, Muslim and Christian festivals with equal fanfare. Every
year Ganeshotsva is celebrated in Khan family. In Panvel (about 50 kilometers
from Mumbai) Salman has a farmhouse and in this property they have a Shiv
Mandir (Temple of Lord Shiva) where ‘Mahashivratri’ is celebrated every year
and in order to look after the temple and perform daily ‘pooja’ a priest is
kept by Khan family. Due to the faith in secularism and opposition to
fundamentalism Khan family and especially Salman has received many threats and
‘fatwas’ were and are being issued against him. But, Salman and his family have
never compromised about their convictions and principles. Salim Khan has
tore many such ‘fatwas’ into pieces.
Arpita Khan is the
youngest sister of Salman Khan and very few people know that she is an adopted
child. Entire Khan family loves her greatly. Arpita got married on 18th
November 2014. Salman and his family did not kee any stone unturned in the
preparations of this wedding. They had booked ‘Falkanuma Palace’ in Hyderabad
city for two days. They had invited many stars from Bollywood as well as other
regional film industries. Even, Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri.
Narendra Modiji was invited for the marriage ceremony of Sallu’s litte sister.
Only Khan family and Salman can give so much love to their close ones as well
as unknowns. Commercially, Salman is the most successful superstar from 1989
till today who has given maximum number of hits, super hits and blockbusters
than his other contemporaries. He is a person with golden heart who always
believes in giving back to the society and helping others.
